So I'll be ordering a glass holes 1500gph overflow box and drilling my newly acquired 150g for the overflow and two 1/2" return lines. My next concern is a sump, which I'm planning on using a 75g for. I'll branch off the sump intake lines and run a separate line, flow adjustable, line over to the refugium side, so it essentially will be a split system. I'm planning on a Reef Octopus skimmer. Also, this tank will be a FOWLR setup. Any critique on the sump design?

I am also getting ready to build a new sump/fuge for my 150gal. I have been scouring the DIY section for ideas. I have two overflow boxes on my 150 and was going to do an equip-fuge-return set-up but I probably could do the similar setup that you have. Its my first and I wanted to keep it simple but I also want to make something that doesn't need to be made better later. A few questions for you: Why are you choosing the equip-return-fuge set-up? Why socks and the extra baffle before the fuge? Are you going to use acrylic or glass for your baffles? Thanks for the input!

i would skip the filter on the fuge side, or place two on the left and "t" of the drain to feed the fuge side. the fuge will not need a large amount of water passing thru it. here is my sump in a 40 breeder.

I'm planning on putting just a ball valve past the tee on the inlet that splits between the sump inlet and the fuge inlet, that way I can put some back pressure on the inlet (to the sump) to adjust flow to the fuge side. The majority of the water will just run thru the sump/skimmer side, and the two baffled ends on the fuge side is so the water enters the bottom, then crosses the live rock I'll stack on each side, then hits the fuge which will mainly be a DSB with maybe some small pieces of LR - the bulk of the water area in the fuge will have cheato.
