aqua illumination question?

I just put a new aqua illumination sol super blue over my elso system 70. I had a 150 watt 20k radium over the tank before. I am wonder what percentage I should start the lights at and how fast I should adjust them up for acclimating the corals to the light?

Honestly, I haven't personally owned a AI Sol. but with how powerfull i've seen them and also read about their performance. I would start at no more than 25% and go from there.

i only really keep LPS so at this point im only going to start out with 2% and moving it slowly up during the day to about 15% then back down to 0.

Start at 30% on all three lights for the first week. Assuming everything is happy move up from there. You are coming from halides

2% is moonlights

How far off the water do you have them?

I would start at %30 as well & go up from there. Unless you are going to raise them up higher, 50% will probably be a good goal to end up at.

I have them about 14 inchs off water now. I changed my peak high to about 25% so I will be starting with that and move up slowly.

IIRC its a 20" deep tank. I was safe starting at 35% at 5"'s from the waters surface.

I started at 25% and move up a few % every other week. The intensity is very deceiving so be careful. Acans don't like levels over 70%. Go over to reef culture and get PAR meter to map out. Must do:spin3: Also switch out the 40 deg for the 70 better spread and more even par

Some of your corals are going to be upset regardless, not enough or too much light? Don't get discouraged, they'll come around. I've had my Sol Blue up for a month now and all corals are finally happy and i'm now 100% on all 3 colors for 5 intense hours (11:00-4:30). You will find yourself playing with the controller alot during the acclimation cycle of your corals, i'm now saving up for one more module as I want it to be brighter!
