When I dose with DT's phytoplankton I always notice a phosphate spike later that day or the next no matter how little/much I dose... the spike is just proportional to the dosage. I would imagine that is because either the phyto is dead and I am blasting dead stuff into my tank, or it is alive but dies very quickly. Is there any way to create a natural source of phyto in my tank?

What I am thinking is that when it comes to zoo a lot of people will just start growing copepods to avoid death in a tank. When it comes to fish food some folks will breed live brine. So I am just trying to figure out if there is anything like that with phyto. This may be a dumb question, dunno, but I have not really seen it discussed much. Thanks.
