is 75x turnover too much for a sps dominated tank in a 40 breeder.
i have 2 koralia 1050's and one k3.
just wondering if i have too much flow, i have read that too much flow can cause rtn as well as other factors.

I have 2 1050s in my 40B mixed reef. I don't think its too much flow for an SPS dominant tank but your aquascaping will dictate how much direct flow you have. For my tank I have to keep most LPS lower and somewhat shield by rocks.
FWIW I don't think my Koralias push as much water as claimed.
Interesting thing I heard today at my LFS though. They have an MP-10 that went down and they had been on the phone with echotech to get a replacement dry side. My LFS said the echotech rep stated that the MP10's rating for 2,000 GPH (or whatever it is) was the sum of what the pump can pull in and push out so 1,000 in and 1,000 out assuming a 2,000 gph max rating. I have no idea if this is accurate or if it applies to other manufacturer ratings.

I have 1-K2 &1 MP10. I used to have 2-K2 & 1MP10. I think the K3 is to much for a small area size wise. Your biggest problem is running out of realestate. I personaly have dialed back my flow to gain more room and my SPS don't even notice. If you want more room w/more flow. Put a K3 impeller in a K2. this will free up some space.

i have 2 mp10w in my tank and find that my sps love it and the wave is pretty sweet too.

i plan to get a mp10, originally i bought a used one, but it was noisy, so i sent a vid to ecotech, and they wanted me to buuy a new dry side, i returned the pump instead. that would have cost me more than a brand new unit retail. paid $140 for the used one.
i guess i have to run some test this weekend, while i have crazy coraline growth, i am losing a few sps, my three birdsnest are fine as well as my blue tip acro, but some others has rtn'd. i was not sure if it was due to the flow as i have seen too much direct flow killing sps.
thanks for the responses.
