1" Drains handle 600gph.

ok a 1in drain is 600 gph so 2 of them would be 1200 and my mag is 900gph at zero head i assume. so all this together sounds like my pump will not be big enough. the problem is its going up tomorrow after noon and i have a lil giant and my mag 9.5, and noway to drill glass for the lil giant. i was thinking of using a (T) with barb fitting for the return to cut back on noise instead of pvc. either way i guess i need a larger in sump pump

The Mag 9.5 should be enough on your system. You are just pumping water from your sump to your 120, right? Typical advice is to have your sump pump move 3-5 times your tank volume per hour (360-600 gph in your case). The Mag will easily move that amount at 4' of head and you might even install a ball valve to cut its flow back some.

You don't want your pump pushing as much water as your overflows will handle as you want margin for error if something obstructs a drain and water needs to stay in the sump long enough to be skimmed.

Use powerheads in the tank for additional in-tank water movement.

i agree the 9.5 will be plenty. I have a mag 9.5 on my 120 long(5 ft) and it is fine. I have two korailla evo 1050 in their also and it is good!! Anything bigger and you will have to tune it down with a ball valve. And i have heard and read that by doing so it will take a little life away from the pump, they are not meant to be reduced!
If you want any more flow upgrade your powerheads!

In tank flow and return flow from sump are different...agree?

I don't think we know yet what application he's applying yet...Please answer poster and we can answer...

The 9.5 mag will work very well for return pump flow for sump turnover rate.

This is not even close to enough to have for in tank flow....I'm assuming flow guy above is using the reeflo dart with a close loop which would be great.

I have 3 MP40 plus 2 EVO 1050's running in my 240 cube....it's well over 10,000 g's an hour of flow....

I use a ECO pump like 1200 gph so my return flow is only 4-5 times over per hour....
