View Full Version : How Long To Adjust Salinity

Hi,

I bought a small CUC from the LFS yesterday. I ended up putting them in the QT I had just set up earlier in the day. I put them in there because of the big difference in the salinity between their tank and mine. Their tank was 1.019 and mine is 1.024. I thought that would be too much of a shock for them. I adjusted the QT to match theirs before I put the CUC in. They seem to be doing ok with it so far (I put them in yesterday afternoon). My question is how much can I adjust the salinity in the QT each day. I'm guessing this is going to take a couple of days anyway.

Thanks,
Dan

Going up, they say 0.001 per day, but I've gone as high as 0.003 per day and have been OK.

I have heard people just using natural evaporation to handle the rise portion.

That will take too long to reach 1.024 if your just topping evaporation off with saltwater. Just raise by 0.001 a day.

Thanks for the replies. I did a small water change today, and it went up 0.002. I guess a couple days of that will get it to the right level. Then I can send them to my DT so they can get to work in there.
