Someone suggested that hydroponic stores sell lights for cheaper. Don't have to pay a "made for reef" mark up.

This true? What's the brands to look for if so.

Thinking of getting rid of this fixture and getting a higher quality 6 bulb T5 fixture.

I looked. Pricing seemed the same to me. They mostly use metal halide.. I don't recall seeing T5's. They're into 1000W metal halides, mostly, from what I can tell. Plus, you're never going to touch some of the crazy ridiculous used deals on new pricing.

hydro stores sell mostly 1000w 600w and 400w which is all pretty much useless for reeftanks.. Although I have seen a few tank running 1000watters on them.. way overkill imo.. But you could grow something else with those 1000watters if you have a card then it's legal and that can help pay for your corals..lol
