Can anybody recommend a small shrimp for a 5.5 gal. reef. I was interested in sexy shrimp but have heard they will pick at corals when food is lacking.

Anemone shrimp, bumblebee shrimp, I had sexies and never had an issue with picking but did feed the tank, can't imagine they need much food to survive.

Had two sexy shrimp in a ten gallon LPS tank for years without any coral aggression I noticed. Of course I rarely saw them too.

If it's a fishless tank the cleaner or blood shrimp would be good choices. With any fish in a 5.5, shrimp are out of the question imo.

No fish at this point. Thanks for the advice. I think I've settled on sexy shrimp.

You could also look into blue or yellow coral banded shrimp. They stay about 1.5".

What do you think of camel back shrimp? They seem reasonably priced. Not that I'm cheap or anything just cautious.

Lol they are cheap because they aren't reef safe! They will snack on your coral, not a good idea.
