I'm sort of new, I've been running a Nano with an HQI for over a year. However I'm onto a larger setup with all the bells and whistles.

Right now I have a pair of PFO 250W HQI fixtures with matching PFO ballasts. The bulbs are brand new 250W, 14000K bulbs. From my reading it looks like alot of people suppliment the MH lights with T5 blues and ancitic lighting.

I have the room in the canopy to add a 2 bulb T5HO 54w with reflectors. I'm not planning to really get into SPS corals, just softies and LPS.

Do you think I need these extra 2 T5HO bulbs running true blues or ancitics?

OR

Will the MH 250W duals be enough?

Thanks,

Riddler

Bump. No one has an opinion about adding T5HO for some colour with a pair of MH 250w?

How blue do you like your tank? I like mine blue, so I run actinics with my 20k's

If you are to add the two T-5 actinics, they will make some of your LPS and zoas color pop. Later, you might get into SPS and you will have the right lights for everything.

So with my MH I should run a pair of ancitic bulbs or should I do something like an ATI Super Blue and then an ancitic?

I guess my lighting knowledge is lacking....

I would go with 2 actinics.

I think the mh will be all the light you need to grow anything and the t5's would just be to make it the color you want. That's how I always thought of it.
