im wanting to build a frag tank. and going to try to utilize my current t5 fixture that im using on my 75 now since im upgrading to leds soon on it.

demensions are 48x18x12tall

i think with it only being 12 tall i should be able to grow sps?

btw it will be (5) yes 5 54watt t5's on it or if that is to much i can take it down to 4 as the 1 is just a hagen glo single strip

any thoughts would be appreciated

Certainly not too much. Sounds good. Most SPS shouldn't be a problem.

okay now the ultimate ? what kinda flow. and how to get it there.

keep in mind at first gunna mainly have softies zoas and shroom. and most likely a ton of xenia

so PH or return pump wise i think PH would be more energy efficient

I don't think its too much light but I think you could get by with less since its only 12" deep. Since its a frag tank you could use 3 6000k bulbs and you'd be good. With 5 bulbs you could go with like 3 10k and 2 actinics and its would look great and have plenty of light for everything. I would go with two power heads, one on either end. A wave box would be good for the SPS but they're not cheap. I like the dimensions of that frag tank because its shallow and long. You could even use a HOB filter and not even use a sump if you keep up with the water changes. You should look at the dimensions on a 40 long. They are about the same and since its a standard tank it could be had for cheaper than what glass cages sells stuff for.
