As title says looking for more movement here. Kind of worried about wavebox because only one side of tank has an overflow. Thinking it might splash?

The thing to know anout a wavebox is that it isn't considered "flow" so much.
It causes your water column to move forward and back a few inches.

It is great to move polyps of your corals about and to help move detritus into the column so that it can be pushed into your overflow to be skimmed.

If you are just looking for flow I would add another powerhead.

Sean

mp40 for sure.

You can get wavebox wave action with mp40s and have better flow.

I have a 120 with two vortech mp40w set to 100% reefcrest async on opposite side of the tank. You can't go wrong with that kind of water movement and the wave options.

If you have one already, I would get another MP40 and sync them. I plan on adding a second soon as well as my growth is starting to restrict the flow in the tank a little.

Can you sync an mp40w and an mp40 wes?

Yes, the "W" in the model name means wireless capable. And you can synch a W with a W ES, you just won't have the option to synch the ES driver's EcoSmart modes. All other modes may by synched or anti-synched for that matter. I know of some folks with multiple VorTechs that simply run them each in a random mode without having them communicate. That can create some very random/chaotic flow, but if you have the wireless capability, it makes sense to use it.

If you haven't downloaded the latest version of the full user manual from the EcoTech site, you might want to do that and have a read. It explains most everything in a lot of detail, including the mix & match of different models. Your 120 might benefit from a 3rd VorTech, perhaps an MP10 on the back glass.

And by going with a second VorTech, you're keeping the equipment footprint in your display smaller than with a wavebox.
