Moving Sand from old tank to new tank

hey guys,

so i set up a brand new tank and wanted to move my old sand to the new tank. are there any issues with this? old tank was running for around 6 months. i heard the nitrites or nitrates are below sand bed so moving sand might not be best idea to new tank. is this true?

imo, very much so true... i would jus comb off the top 1/2" or so and combine that with all new sand... its definately not a good idea to use the old sand below the surface level of the sandbed... serious pollution to your new water imo... jus my 2 cents...
