First off, Welcome to Reef Central!
Can you make a recommendation for which RO/DI system might be best for me? I have looked at your models and I'm not sure if I really need everything offered by the SpectraPlus2000 or not. I started looking at it when I thought I had chloramines in my water, but I have since learned from my water company that I do not.
I have a 65 gallon reef and 10 gallon nano reef and another 10 gallon that I am not sure what it will turn in to. Water changes every week or two, usually 3 in every month. I guesstimate that I use about 60 gallons of water a month. Also, I do hope to move up to a larger tank in the next couple of years if I can get the go ahead from hubby, perhaps a 150.
Water is ultimately from wells but is treated and tested by the water company. I have no idea what the water pressure is, but we have never had a problem and it seems pretty good. Very likely something over 50 PSI. Temperature is 60 degrees now (I live in CT) and probably drops to 50 in winter. They add fluoride and sodium hypochlorite in my area. Due to the well water and my location water is high in silicates although the water company doesn't test for that.
Other things listed in the water report that might be of concern are:
Chloride 25 ppm
Fluoride .95 ppm
Nitrate 2.5 ppm (as Nitrogen)
Turbidity .05 NTU (not sure what this means)
Total Trihalomethanes 4.9 ppb
chloroform 1.3 ppb
dibromocloromethane 1.6 ppb
lead 18 (throughout region not just my water source - presumably due to lead pipes?)
copper .96 (throughout the region not just my water source)
I've been using Tap Water Purifier DI cartridges for the last 2.5 years and I am tired of going through 2 per month, plus it's getting expensive.
Sorry this is so long, but I wanted to give you as much information as I could. thanks.
Mickey
