View Full Version : what do you use to clean coraline algae in Acrylic tank?
i have some problem getting rid of these coraline algae in front..
side ones are ok..
I am using just regular kent marine one..but not happy with it..
anyone use this one?~

I use a kent scraper and it works just fine. the sooner you scrape them, the easier the job. I don't buy the you need a lot of pressure to scrape off coraline. if you use your fingernail, you'll see it comes off with very little effort. you don't have a big tank, so just using a kent scraper, or scrubbing by hand with an acrylic scrub pad on your next maintenance day to clean them off will be enough.

I just use a plastic card. The one you linked to looks pretty good. It looks like it would be sturdy.

It will work fine...for a little while! Just like the Kent blade, they will 'dull' and not cut the coraline. I keep a sharp edge on the Kent scraper, by 'planeing' it with a plane from my X-acto knife set. Works great and blades last a LONG time!

I used an expired credit card for about a year without it becoming 'dull.'
