When i bought this guy he had 5 heads. I liked the way it looked because the heads were kinda spread out and not really touching each other. It was my first LPS and i thought i had to feed it everyday. Soon enough those 5 heads turned into about 35. It seems instead of branching out it just keeps growing new heads and they are starting to compete for room. i would love to frag a couple heads off, but they are kinda attached to one another. I now only feed it about once every two weeks hoping it will try and grow out for light. Any suggestions?

Most LPS grow into ball shapes. Budding up and forming round colonies. Unless you want to frag some of the outte heads, it will continue to grow how it is.

It took my Duncan to hit about 50 heads before it finally starting branching out. My guess is it needed to grow a big enough base to hold it with the flow before it could branch out. Eventually Duncans will branch, and that's probably when you'll have your best bet of fragging...without a dremel or band saw.

Wow, Duncans are some of my favorite LPSs to keep, and mine is on its way to looking like that.... Amazing husbandry!

Yea i gotta say its one of my favorite corals in the tank. I've decided to see what happens if i just feed the crap out of it every other day. Just got done feeding all 35 heads. I'd love for it to be the size of a basketball!

dont mean to steal ur thread but, are duncans aggressive? if it made contact with other corals would it damage them?

No clue on that one. I've never had it close enough to anything to know.
