I just changed out my GFO from BRS. My old measurement was 0.03. One week after changing it now reads 0.08 using my Hanna Checker. I am running BRS GFO and Rowa Phos in reactors and still can not get the level down to less than 0.03.

I did 20% water change last week. I also had a Maxima Clam die last week. The local fish store ran out of PE Mysis so I used another brand but rinsed it our before feeding. I have also decreased feedings to once every 2-3 days.

What next?

There can be test kit reading error.

Rock and sand will absorb phosphate and then slowly release it back into the water column once you draw it out using GFO. GFO can become exhausted within a few days and then will need to be replaced or re-generated.

Changing GFO more frequently can help provided no test reading errors, along with reduced phosphate input from foods.
