I was feeding my sun coral this morning and decided to drop a couple of mysis on my ricordias. A little while later, I see a bristle worm out near the ricordia and watch him go to the ricordia and start yanking the shrimp right from the mouth of the ricordia!

I'd just as soon get rid of the worm, just cause they are ugly, but is this anything I should be worried about? I assume that that wouldn't actually hurt a coral, but could it?

Sounds like a normal bristle worm...nothing to be worried about.

I'd suggest you live a few in your tank...as they are a huge help in terms of a CUC.

If there's one that's too big for your liking...feel free to take it out.

Do you have any pics of what it looks like?

Thanks. I haven't taken pictures, but looks like the average bristle worm, not a fire bristle.

Than you should be perfectly fine...

I watched one gulp down an entire medium spectrum pellet once...I didn't know whether to be amazed or utterly disgusted.

About a year ago we removed a 12" bristleworm and then 9mths after that removed 8" bristleworm... It's been about 9-10mths and I seen another one last night. Trying to find out what eats them or the best way to get rid of them ? Please help

I know for fact as I saw my melanurus and yellow wrasse eat a couple (of course smaller than yours), but I don't know if they will eat them at that size.

It goes the other way too. This one thought he'd steal a mysis from my candycane and lost the battle.

Coral banded shrimp will eat bristle worms, so will arrow crabs.

Coral banded can go after fish too. Use with caution

As will Arrow Crabs. They also get very large.

IME, most wrasses will eat the smaller ones. Once they get huge, manual removal will be the best option if you must have it out of the tank. Remember to wear gloves!

I enjoy watching my Candy Cane eat strands of HA that end up floating around the tank.
