ESV salt for me previous I was using reef crystals, ESV is the best salt i've used so far easy to mix and parameters on point

I've been using reef crystals on this tank. I measure the water using API test kits.

My preferred salt is ESV B-Ionic. Next in line to ESV is Instant Ocean. Salts I wont use anymore are Reef Crystals and Coralife.

D-D FTW, just switched over and it's blowing TM regular out of the water.

Seems everyone in my area uses Kent. But I notice when it comes to Reef central I don't see a lot of people mention it. Is Kent not as available everywhere?

i currently have a bucket of IO reef crystals and TM bio actif.. i add mostly reef with some
TM mixed in for a type of carbon dosing.

i have come to the realization that the salt you use means less then keeping ALK stable
over all. i am sure i could succeed using any salt.

I use Tunze Reef Excell. Mixes great with no residue, levels are good and it's affordable from BRS.

Instant Ocean for many years here, no complaints.

Used NSW for years till they shut down our supply line.

Now I'm using IO or Coralife, which ever is on sale or avaiable at the store. No issues.

I'm currently using coralife and had great results with it so far. I sometimes have to add mag, alk,, and cal but for the most part it has been good for me.

Reef crystals. Group buy brings it down to just under $50 for a 200g box which makes it the cheapest in the area.

I'll use either IO or Coralife. I like the Coralife because it disolves quick. I'm mostly FO.

Reef crystals. Seems the be the best bang for the buck for me. There are a few cons with it though, but Im not adding as much supplements as I once was. Takes a bit more mix to mix a batch up to par. Overall a decent salt. Ive used NSW, Coralife, Oceanic, Instant Ocean, Red Sea, Rea Sea Pro, Tropic Marin... the list goes on. All pretty good. Just make sure to test to find out each bands strengths and weaknesses and add accordingly.

Reef Crystals here. Have always used them...don't really see a reason to change.

Currently using red sea coral pro, I love it great salt and have had no problems..... I'm switching over to Salinity, picking up a bucket tonight (switching cause its a little cheaper) I used reef crystals in the past, hated that stuff!! Nothing but problems and horrible cyno with it.

Usually a 50/50 mix of Oceanic and I/O, they tend to balance each other out nicely.

IO Reef Crystals- Good sales at Foster and Smith. I'm new to making my own saltwater. Did some research and have concluded that Instant Ocean is what the majority of reefkeepers use. And, most importantly, are happy with the product.

When I first started I used kent and didnt really have any problems with it but foolishly decided to switch to TMPR thinking that it must be better because it costs more. Well I found that I had to increase my two part dosing to maintain my levels and I wasnt getting 200 gallons out of the bucket. So after muxh convincing from a fellow reefer I switched over to reef crystals and I will never use anything else again. It mixes great, pe is great, I've cut back on my daily dosing and more importantly.....its almost half the price.

I am getting the feeling that most people who have posted do not alter their change water to the tank's parameters.

Am I one of the few dinosaurs left that do this?

I've been using Instant Ocean for the past 15 years or so. I boost it with Dowflake for calcium (~70 ppm) and MAG flake for magnesium (~150 ppm). :)

IO or reef crystals.

Is it cheaper to supplement the IO rather than get the RC for more calcium and mag?

If you use MAG flake and Dowflake, it is even cheaper than IO alone to reach the same salinity. Definitely cheaper than RC.

That said, I prefer IO to RC. It is not a matter of cost. I do not want the added organic matter that is in RC.

Oceanic salt since starting out 7 years ago. Working great!

I love oceanic salt because it mixes clear quickly. However the higher calcium throws my system out of whack too easily, so I'm back to instant ocean.

I started using Instant Ocean when I started adding corals I started using Reef Crystals no bucket was ever the same. Tried Coralife cyano outbreak was real bad. Tried Seachem Reef Salt great salt if you like high calcium levels. Then I decided to try Red Sea Coral Pro best salt I have used can't see changing
