What is the star of your tank? Gets the most wow's from you and all visitors. Fish or coral. Whether for color or behavior or whatever.

What's sad is the most popular thing lives in the sump! Have a chocolate chip starfish that everone except me likes. Lol but because of his diet he wont be in the DT for sure. ;-)

LTA and pair of clownfish. I have some beautiful acro's that I love but most people still go nuts over the anemone with its occ clowns. Once they get over that, they eventually spot the pipefish, who usually wins them over as the star.

The biggest wow from non-reefers...mag float, with BL hermits a close second though.

Biggest wow from reefer...usually the big torch or big hammer.

Biggest wow from me...ORA german blue polyp acro.

Mine is my clowns. when people come over they are amazed at how they sleep. Mine sleep perpendicular and when people come over its usually at night so they are already sleeping and they think something is wrong with them since they are in the back of the tank swimming up and down. Its funny how the first thing people notice is the tank right away.

This is so true. The average "Joe" is often amazed by something we don't care that much about, and when you try to point out your shinning star coral or something, they say "Oh, is that real? That's nice and all, but wow, check out that snail!" :headwallblue:

Non-reefers are always amazed by the snails & crabs. Then they point at the coral and ask: is all that other stuff real?

My large open brain coral and frogspawn get a lot of attention. In my previous tank, a huge swaying sinularia got all of the attention. It was my favorite coral. I'd take it over any colorful sps.

Cleaner shrimp seem to be a universal favorite among guests.

It seems that people's sps are mostly ignored by guests. While I do think that the variety of forms and colors found among sps are appealing, I wonder if a big part of their allure is their difficulty of care. What if lps and zoanthids were among the more difficult corals to keep? Would they then become the pinnacle of the hobby, with elaborate high-end systems built to support them?

My red scooter blenny is what everyone always comments on

Caesra
06/05/2011, 01:11 AM
I think it depends on my mood, My fav fish has to be my blenny....out of all the fish floating around, he has the most personality, Although, there is not replacement for all the chromis flocking to the my position on the glass when I walk into the room. My blenny was at the LFS forever, no one wanted him cuz he is brown (wonderful coloring on the fins though)....but what caught my attention for weeks was his insanely bouncy personality. If I am having a bad day I can go over to the tank he is in and just sit. He says, 'hey wats up? Want a pod, hold on...there's one..be back in a second,...I'm back, sorry, just was good lookin steak there....O wait, I'll be back in a sec..that other fish looks interesting..not sure what he doing....ok I'm back...on and on..."..never boring.

My fav coral died, my fault. Most would not be impressed, but it was hands down my fav out of everything in all my tanks.

And I swear, I don't dare look at my sump. If I do, I spend hours looking at the all the life down there...does that make me bad that i like watching the 'food'?

Postal, that's really a beautiful specimen and I love the color. I've a yellow one (6.5") for over a year now and everyone that comes over likes it a lot.

As for the star(s) on my dt people always say they like the magnificent foxface pair's synchronized swimming especially at feeding time where they pick off pellets at the bottom in the same motion.
