So my boyfriend built me a custom LED fixture from scratch and he just got it up and running on my tank. Im really excited about it, it looks really nice and i cant wait to see how my corals do! The lights are adjustable, so i can dim the whites or the blues how i choose. I have them on low right now since i am switching from a simple T5 setup. Ive got the blues and whites even as of now. I am thinking i will gradually raise the strength over time. It was built so that the fixture hangs a foot above the tank. I will post another FTS in about a month to see if there is any noticeable growth of my corals. Well here are the pictures!

i know its really awesome! I cant believe he made that whole thing on his own. He has taken a few electrical engineering classes at school so that helped him a lot. He hated my fish hobby until only about 4 months ago, then suddenly he wanted his own tank and corals etc! Its nice that we both enjoy it. He still doesnt understand my infatuation with frogfish though :lolspin:

Looks like a mice lighting fixture he made there for you!! Not sure if the corals you have will really benefit from it though and you should be careful not to bleach them

im hoping i can get some more light needy corals now that i have this fixture. Im really afraid of stressing out the corals i have now/bleaching them. Its hard because im sort of guessing what a low light intensity is. How should i gradually acclimate them? Obviously im never putting these lights on full power, im just not sure how strong i should go up to and over what span of time.
