I've been told urchins and harlequin tusk can. No firsthand experience though.

I imagine crabs scurrying along the sandbed and against the acrylic can do a number on it over the years.

My experience tusk will scratch the acrylic I have a crosshatch with no issues... Biggest issue with scratches is magnets make sure they are clean and that there is no salt on acrylic from water splashes because if you run the magnet across it you will scratch the acrylic

Urchins can etch acrylic while eating your coraline algae.

worst critters: KIDS, followed by FRIENDS, that want to 'help'...never leave the magnets on the tank...people see them and HAVE to try them!

magnets--+1 on that... that is why you don't leave loaded guns around either.
