Could I paint a lightbulb blue to add blue color to my reef

It would Crust up and fall off i would think from the heat. Maybe not. Id be more worried if it did and fell into my tank

Dude, go to home depot or Lowes. they sell party lights in different colors. Please, don't paint your lightbulb.

You could also buy a plastic colored bulb guard. I would not paint a bulb that was going to hang above water.

actually it would create a thermal barrier over the bulb, overheat, and POP.
seriously though... i have no idea what im talking about.

Many years ago they sold paint for that but I don't think it is still available.

Peppie im not really following you here since any t-5/VHO or PC can come with actinic bulbs.

Look around for blue florescent bulbs from non-aquarium suppliers if you can't find an actinc you're looking for. You may be able to find VHO actinics in that length
