What is the minimum lighting needed on a 48" 60 gal tank needed for clams?
I would love a small blue maxima but suspect my 4 bulb 48" t5 fixture wont cut it.

I have my 5 " Maxima in a 29gal. tank with a 5 bulb Aquatinics T-5 lamp for the last three years. The clam is about 6 " below the water line and 9" below the bulbs themselves. I know this is not exactly what you have but I hope it helps.

if you have good reflectors and can keep the clam up higher in the tank you should not have any issues. With good reflectors and overdriving the T5's puting one on the sandbed will probably also work.

I had a Crocea Clam in a 5 gallon bucket for 4 months with no light and its still going strong.
