would small die off from marine plants such as mangroves chaeto create ammonia or a mini cycle. its not a lot of die off? i have a 55 gallon fowlr tank and i got RO/DI water and the water quality does not seem dirty enough for the chaeto and soon the mangroves. it is still alive for sure just some parts have loosen and are falling off. it hasnt made any problems yet.

If it is an established tank, there should be no concern. If it is an uncycled new tank, then you may detect some ammonia.

The die off of macro algae normally reintroduces the nitrates and phosphates back into the water that it used to grow. I'm sure if left to rot completely it might introduce some ammonia.

it will not be left. i think it may just be dieing down to a smaller size. if i see it is not going any better within a week or two i will get rid of most of it and put it into another tank with more nitrates and phosphates.
