Nano - Denoting a very small item

I don't consider a 90 gallon tank "very small"

My 45 G hex that I had for years even when I had larger than 90G tanks.

My 72G bowfront that sat on the wall oppisite of my 400g tank.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v454/blown63chevy/72G%20bowfront%200208/Fish08043.jpg

I no longer have these two tanks as I have downsized to one tank, the 400G because of my electric bill being way to big.

Nothing wrong with nanos I've seen some really cool ones! Larger tanks allow for more stocking options of different types of corals/livestock. A lot of the times people will start with smaller nanos and upgrade because they want to get certain types of fish/corals which my not be suited for a smaller tank. Also, the larger tanks tend to stay more stable than nanos because of the increase water volume adding to dilution of nutrients and stable temp/parameters.

Believe it or not, smaller tanks can actually be harder to take care of than a larger tank. However I think you could go too big where the maintenance is overwhelming.

Nice pics everyone..

I've raised this same concern awhile ago...

It seems the Reef Discussion section is for those with medium sized tanks (30gallons - 100 gallons)

Just keep looking and you'll see a few journals of tanks in this range size. To see tanks around the 40-50 gallon range I usually walk over to Nano-Reef. There's a zillion of them over there...

yea nanos are very nice but limited so are smaller than 90 gallon tanks but people always have such clever ideas and its nice to see so my main goal was to get as many on one page as possible. THE ONES ON HERE SO FAR LOOK AMAZING!!!

It'll be two years in August. It's not much, but I love staring at it! Things have really just started to settle in and grow nicely. People are not kidding when they say you need patience in this hobby!

Here's a pic of my 2 month old 75g mixed reef. I just have a few frags in there right now, when I get some more experience and confidence, I'll add some bigger (More expensive) corals.

Not the greatest, but I'm enjoying the hell out of it.
