snail that is :)
Came home and saw a little snail on my glass cleaning it up. Are they OK to have? The new CUC is really working hard keeping the tank clean and I am happy at their progress.

snails are typically OK to keep and will eat algae off the glass.

Also a very good sign if your snails are reproducing in your tank. You must be doing something right!

Where do we send the blue/pink cigars?!
Pretty cool when you get to see cycle of life on a smaller scale. I started seeing new, very very small pinkish mushrooms the other day and got really excited and my wife was making fun of me.
Oh the things that make us smile.

reading these threads so much has changed from when I had my last reef tank some 8 years ago.. water temp, bristle worms are now good, etc.
I still have 1 Aiptasia that I cant kill (cant get to) but I did get rid of all the other ones with the lemon juice method. Xenia is doing fine but the mushroom doesn't like anywhere where I put it - attached for a day or 2 then leaves. Since I will be gone for a few weeks on holiday, I already took the necessary steps (I think)
Since it is a small 8gal tank, and with no LPS/SPS in there, water changes should be just fine, so I will premix the water in the right amount. I got a auto fish feeder (the one with the round disc that you put what amount to feed - that way I can have the lieele clown get his food every other to thrid day like he is used to)
I am running on LED lighting and I have that and the pump hooked up to a backup battery - it is a good size one that I used for my small server before, so I should get a few hours uptime on it - enough to call up a friend to swing by and check the power if it goes out longer - plus my server does email me when the power goes out, so I will know instantly what happens.
I also got a network webcam so I can see my tank over the internet :) (I am a computer geek so it had to be done)
So to summarize
food - auto fish feeder
power - backup battery
water top off/changes - premade sealed containers
seeing how the tank is doing - webcam
and having a person swing by 1-2xweek and check up on it also
