Hey everyone,
So the addiction started when I started my 75 gallon tank almost 6 months ago. Everything is great and I am seeing some great growth on all my corals including my sps. I was wondering is it too late to add more rock. I thought I had enough at the time but there is some places where Id like it to be higher so I have some more room for sps corals. Can I do this without starting a cycle that will be damaging to my tank inhabitants. Thanks everyone!

yes just make sure your rock is cured fully first. and do not add to much at once

dry rock doesnt need cured since its well, dry..there is nothing living on it..just make sure to clean it very well before putting it in.

u don't have to cure dry rock,"curing" live rock is only needed if the rock has been out of water for more than a few hours because die off occurs, all the critters that live in or on the rock will produce an ammonia spike if they die, one or two pieces of live rock, even uncured, in an established tank will have little to no effect on your system.

Are you buying LR online or at a LFS and how many lbs of LR do you intend to buy?

I would probably be buying from my LFS. (My LFS is the very best quality top notch) I have thought about online buying too if that's the better option. It wouldn't be very much I just have one or two places Id like it to be higher.

Buying from your LFS would be better because of less dieoff. If your looking for just 1-2 pieces, then your probably okay adding all of them in one time.

When I started to change my FO tank to a FOWLR, I gradually added one 5 lbs piece of LR weekly or every two weeks with very little if any spikes in water parameters.
dry rock isn't live rock.
In live rock, the issue is dirt, debris, and dieoff. You don't want those things in your tank. If transferring from other water PDQ, all ok: you can do it. If transferring long distance only damp (as by mail, in a bag), I'd give it a few days in an agitated bucket to be sure, and not put much in. Dry rock isn't live. Just wash it off first---and be sure it's limestone, not, eg, volcanic, which has metals.
