A few hours after I turned my lights off last night I turned on the light next to my fish tank and noticed a very small - about the same size as my amphipods - creature darting up and down my tank. This guy was moving fast! He was moving quickly and erratically then all of a sudden he landed on a piece of live rock and entered a tiny hole. I couldn't get a good look at him because he was moving so fast but he was the size of an amphipod only flatter.
I know that's not a very good description but does anyone have any idea what it could be?
By the way my tank has no fish, coral, or inverts, only live rock (the tank is currently cycling).

Some other kind of pod probably. Amphipods, copepods, and isopods come in an enormous variety of shapes and sizes.

Get a red light and look at your tank a bit after lights out. You'll be surprised at how much life you find!

See that black and yellow pod to the left of the worm!

Thanks for the replies! What I saw did have the pod-like appearance. I had just never witnessed a pod off a rock and erratically swimming like the one I saw last night. He was moving so fast and then i started picturing what would happen if this thing multiplied and hundreds of these things were swimming around in my tank! lol I'm sure thats unlikely to happen however. So, I'll just look at it as a beneficial hitchhiker until it appears otherwise:crazy1:
