Hi all,
It's been quite a while since I have considered dabbling around with an aquarium. About 10 years. At that point I bought most of the equipment needed for a salt water aquarium, but never set it up.
Now I have it set up and am starting to think...maybe I should water test the aquarium. After all it's been 10 years. It's been sitting in my dining room. I don't smoke. Still...could the seals have been damaged from no water being on them? They look fine. They feel fine. The issue is trying to move a 90 gallon by myself to a safe area. Or should I go for it and fill it cautiously. Any suggestions?
Also, I am looking for water options. I believe it is recommend to use RO/DI water. When I shot an email to Culligan, I received the following response...
"Good morning…
I have a couple of options for your aquarium water
a) City water supply or well water?
If city water a portable exchange carbon tank would work $35.00 month plus $75.00 Install
b) RO System for make–up water 3-gallons per day $25.00 mo plus $75.00 install
with RO system …….the initial fill would have to be with bottled water ..Quantity of (20) 5 gallon Bottles = $127.00
c) DI is not the proper application to be used for an aquarium "
He says DI is not correct. I thought I read here it is. Can somebody confirm one way or the other.
Thank You
