Looking very seriously into installing these on my 65 gallon reef tank. Does anyone have any experience with these and will one set of them at 34 1/2 inches be enough lighting? Right now I have the marineland t5 dual bulbs combined together set of 3 for a total of 6 bulbs(each is 96 watts) I saw them in a reef tank and fell in love with them but I want to know if my corals will make it with them. Mainly brains and one long tentical coral. Toadstool and odds and ends. I am looking for input cause these look alot better and really love the effect they give.
I'm using the 18"-24" on a ten gallon tank and it's probably too much light for the zoa/softies tank.
IMHO they're well made LEDs with a decent spread without being too high off the tank. I also like the color, but I like a crisp white color. If you want to oversaturate with blue to create artificial and unreal coral colors this light isn't for you.

are these somewhat controllable as far as blues and whites?

No, they only give you a switch to turn only the blues on. I wish they had two cords

I have this light for my 30 gallon softie reef. It is barely enough light and I believe your tank is much taller than mine. I do not think it will be enough for you.

I don't want to disagree with you but this light is just like the other LEDs they don't look that bright but meters don't lie. I grow candy cane sitting on the sand in my 40 gallon. I burned my green birdsnest becaue it was too high in the tank and directly under an LED. But my Bird of Paridise has doubled in size. The only negatives are I like the bluer look and I wish the reflectors put out a wider spread.

I used the 24" version over my 36 bow for 4+ months, supplemented with a pair of blue stunner strips. It does a decent job. I replaced it last month with a DIY LED setup because I wanted to be able to control the colors independently.
When I was using it, it was keeping a crocea clam happy in the upper part of my rock work.

I've had both the Marineland reef capable and the Marineland double bright, and both of them had an electrical meltdown. The round plug where the power cord connects to the fixture itself is a bad fitting, and in both cases, mine eventually arced and melted the plastic and the plug wires. I do not recommend these fixtures for that reason alone.

jayelblock... did marineland repair your units or did you return them for refund?

They are replacing mine with a newer model, they realize they have problems with the LEDS. The new models are suppose to be out by end of July
