Looking for some opinions on what i'm planning for a CUC for a 29 cube. The general rule thing snails per gallon i'm not so sure if the best. I had a 15 gallon going before this and only had 8 snails never any problems. I have aprox 35-40 lbs of rock, 2" sand bed.

Currently this is what I have (moved from my old tank):

x4 Tiger Trochus Snails
x4 Nassarius

Planning on:

x5 Blue Hermits
x4 More tiger trochus (8 total)
x2 More Nassarius (6 total)
x2 Astera Snails
Emerald Crab

Thinking about stocking a bi-color blenny as well (algea eater possibly?)
Any input would be appreciated. (More, Less, Different species, etc)

In my biocube 29 I have 2 red hermits, 4 blue hermits, 2 other hermits ( were hitch hikers, not sure what they are), 4 astrea, 4 trochus and 3 nassarius. I have a lot of other misc. snails that hitch hiked on my live rock. My cleaning crew keeps my tank pristine.

Hi xxmurxx,

If 8 worked before then a total 16-20 sould be enougn for the new project. Remember althought the tank size doubles the botton surface area does not grow proportionally.

I have biocube as well! I have 3 Nassarius, 1 Mex Turbo, 1 Black Turbo, 2 Astrea, 2 Margarita and HAD a lovely Banded Trochus who died recently. I have an emerald, 2 scarlet hermits, 1 electric blue hermit, 2 dwarf red hermits and 4 itty-bitty dwarf yellow-tip hermits. I clearly like crabs too much but they, along side an algae eating blennie, seem to have enough to do though I suspect I would have the same results with half the crabs.
