I've read nearly all the posts form years ago on this subject.

It was the best thing since sliced bread.

Anyone still using a RDSB?
Anone using it with just a PS?
Why was it abandoned?

TIA

Todd

NO one knows anything about these, good or bad?

Sure. I run one in my fuge. 54g tank, 30 gallon sump, most of it devoted to fuge (skimmer is parked above the sump), packed with live rock, cheato, dsb, and many, many species of crawling things, from limpets to micro brittle stars, crabs. I'm able to support a mandy and a scooter in the tank, plus sandsifting gobies, and the lps grows like mad. I just see no reason not to have a fuge while you're having a rdsb.

Bennies? When I had to take my sandbed down in the main tank (overnight) and add new sand (slowly), didn't have a hiccup, because the fuge dsb carried it. WHen I had to do some service on my fuge, the main tank sandbed carried the system. It's stability. I'm lucky enough to have a basement sump, so I have plenty of room, but even so, it's terrifically valuable, making my little 54 behave like a much bigger tank---highly oxygenated and fastmoving water flow, plenty of life in the water.
