Please help, beyond frustrated, reaching for hammer to destroy apex soon

Trying to learn how to use apex with AI LEDs

I plugged in vdm to energybar aquabus

I cannot figure out how to turn the damn lights on???
Which f--ing menu turns on The lights????
I have vdm plugged into AI and get nothing
I have read the newest manual online and can't figure it out

Please help

You've come to the right place... plenty of expertise here to help you.

Let's check a few basics...

Using the Apex web pages, go to the Configuration->Network setup page. The bottom section will show you what firmware is running on the Apex. What's that version? Support for the VDM was added in v4.04. If you have anything older, you need to upgrade the firmware.

If you have v4.04 or 4.05, then go to the Configuration->Module setup page. Does the VDM appear in the Apex Module List at the bottom of that page?

I'm a service guy
I am installing apex at business
No computer here today,apex connected to router successfully
All I have is my iPhone

I did firmware update on display and and eb8
Vdm reads "old" on module status screen
Even after repeated update attempts
I deleted twice and still says old??
