brief info about my tank 90g with 36g sump.
sump design is overflow from tank with skimmer > refugium > return

Just recently my friend gave me a bunch of cheato algae for my sump and it had some red algae slime on it. I've notice it growing slowly starting to cover some of the cheato algae. What are my options to eliminate these red slime algae. It is only in the sump on my cheato and a little on the glass and rock.

The lighting is from a regular 10g strip light which has 2x10w

Thanks!

Mostly your stuck with manual removal. You can pull the cheato out and rinse it off in a bucket of saltwater. Then siphon it off the rocks and stuff.

I've got a few small patches of cyano in my fuge as well on the rock rubble. It seems to go through an endless cycle of slowly growing then slowly disappearing, but it never gets to be more than a few very small patches even at it's peak, so I just ignore it. I don't have any in the DT and don't see that it's hurting anything to sometimes have a small amount in the fuge.

I guess my point is, you might also try the "do nothing" approach and see what happens.
