View Full Version : Best glass cleaner fluid? (aquarium safe obv)
What is the best/recommended glass cleaning fluid (like Windex) to use on aquariums that is inhabitant friendly?

I like to use my ro/di water! It is so pure that it dissolves anything that's on the glass and it doesn't leave any streaks!

I use water/vinegar mix ;)
Both good ideas. I actually had tried Vinegar mix once but it left too many streaks IMO... maybe I was using too diluted of a mix? Then again, I was using tap water + vinegar, so maybe RO/DI + Vinegar would be better?
For those using vinegar, what is your ratio of vinegar to water?

I use the Windex wipes. No risk of overspray. They're quite inhabitant friendly as long as you don't dip them in the water!

I use 50/50 water/vinegar... I spray paper towel.. wipe.. then use dry paper towel to "buff" it out :lol2:

I too use a 50/50 water vinegar solution in a spray bottle, but you would be surprised how much you can actually just wipe off with a good, dry micro fiber cloth.

I also spray windex on a paper towel, but make sure I do it in another room.

I use Windex as well. As long as your not crop dusting all around the tank you shouldn't have a problem. It doesn't take a whole lot to get the glass clean.

just a splash of ammonia on a rag should do the trick

I use the Coralife glass cleaner / polisher. When you clean the glass with this it is amazing the glow in the glass! Also the cleaning magnets will move very easily. Is like wax in the glass. Finger marks are very easy to clean. And it is aquarium safe.
I use the Coralife cleaner every two weeks and in between I use a skeegee with a sponge and water.
I use rubbing alcohol in a squirt bottle.

I use something similar on my acrylic tank called "brillianize" and it is a wax-on/wax-off cleaner. It makes the tank silky smooth and clear.

when i was younger i used to clean my grandmas windows for her with vinegar water mix and a sponge, dry with a sheet and buff with crumpled newspapers. They would really shine, i may try that on my tank sometime. For now i just use windex and paper towels.
