I have just setup a hospital tank so i can treat my fish for ich. Im going the copper method. My ht has been sitting running for over a month. Has pvc, filter with no pad, heater, powerhead and light. But my nitrites are below .25 and ammonia is at .25 ppm. Ive used the water from my tank but when I test my tank those are zero. Would this be safe to transfer the fish over to treat? or do i need more levels to drop? I have plenty of water sitting around or water changes

No, that level of ammonia level is not safe for fish. I would suggest you do a couple of water changes and get your ammonia and nitrite levels to 0.

I would have a LFS test your ammonia level in case your test kit is flawed

I have a hard time with ammonia in my QT I have to do 5g WC's every 2 days on a 20g to keep the ammonia at 0
And because I do so many water changes I buy cheap salt to use for QT so that I'm not wasting
Good salt my DT needs
