Question 1

I'm upgrading from and Iwaki 40RLT to an Iwaki 55RLT to power my ETSS SB 60 skimmer. I currently have a 3/4" bulk head from the sump feeding the skimmer. The old pump has 3/4" in and out. The new one has 1" in and out. Should I replace the 3/4" bulkhead to a 1" or bigger?

Question 2

Since I'll be working on my sump anyway. I have another 3/4" bulkhead for my Iwaki 40RLXT return pump. This pump also has 1" in and out. Should I also bump this up to a 1" or bigger.

Keep in mind that both pumps will be reduced on the output side to 3/4". I standardized on 3/4" throughout my system and changing would be very costly and time consuming.

Thanks in advance

If you can enlarge both holes to fit 1" bulkheads then you should do it. It is ok to resrtict the output side but you should avoid restricting the input side of most pumps.
