Yesterday I installed a 48” strip of Reef Brite blue leds in my 125 gallon reef. I have to say that this is one of the best purchases I have done for my tank! The intensity and colors produced by these leds is unbelievable. Even with the metal halides and VHO’s on you can see the fluorescence of the leds. My tank is 72” long and the strip covers the tank from side to side.

My lights are 2 MH 175w 20K Plusrite + 2 VHO’s 160w UVL ActinicWhite and 454 and now the Reef Brites.

I have here a lot of photos. First I am comparing the lights with and without the leds. It’s not easy to take photos of the blue but with Photoshop I adjusted white balance in some. The ones comparing the lights where not adjusted for white balance.

Wow good job taking the pic of the LED only. All that blue are impossible. What is your lens/camera setup and settings?

Yes my tank is 72" long. You can see the blue light in the corners but not as intense as in the middle of the tank.

I use a Nikon D60 DSLR and the white balance is adjusted in the camera. There is a custom setting and there is like a matrix with the colors. I move the setting to the red side which reduce the blue. In addition I use Photoshop to adjust even more the colors. I use a tripod for all photos. In some cases the speed is very slow, like 1/6 sec., ISO at 800 and an exposure compensation of -1.0.

The lens is a Nikon 18-105mm.

Yeah they do....it makes green coral look like plug in electric lights....I love mine...the only drawback is they are hard to get reds to pop (at least with white and blue led chips only), hence why he edited a lot of those in photoshop...hehe :D

Thats the Standard, The XHO have a black case and MORE LEDS and is 30% brighter.

You can tell the XHOs because the older ones have four LEDs in groups with 3-4 inches of dead space between the LED groupings. My 48 inch all white strip has 4 groupings. The new XHO ones have LEDS that span the entire length of the strip without large 3-4 inch dead spaces.

Looks great. Just want to add that Reef Brite has impeccable customer service. I have four 48" strips over my 90 and one of the power supplies went out. I contacted Reef Brite and they over-nighted me a new power supply free of charge- no questions asked other than where to send it.
