alright so when i got up this morning i noticed one of my clownfish is staying on the sand bed hes not swimming up the tank just swimming on the sand. the other clownfish in the tank seems fine. these are the only fish i have in the tank right now. i did soak some food in garlic guard for the first time last night so i dont know if this is whats causing him to do this, he seemed fine before i fed him the food soaked in garlic guard. my parameters are fine ammonia 0 nitrite 0 ph 8.4 and nitrate 0-5 ppm

Clownfish are interesting creatures, and will typically do weird things each day unlike other fish. As long as it's swimming well, eating well, and doesn't have any visible signs of an ailment of sorts it's likely fine.

My female clown sometimes hangs around on the bottom of the tank. Sort of rests there in a small sand indentation she created. Nesting behavior maybe? She is perfectly healthy. Just likes to take what appear to be naps on the sand sometimes. She goes from eating a lot one day to eating a little another. They definitely do have food preferences and eat more of the foods they like.

that is exactly what mine is doing kinda resting do you think my 2 clowns will become a pair. the one that is resting on the sand is probably 2 inches long while the other one is maybe and the other is about 3/4 inch long will the bigger one become the female and will they become a mated pair?

well the only thing for certain is the larger one will be the female if they pair.

also my clown does dumb stuff all the time also. like laying on the sand. always ends up fine. i would assume hence the "clown" title

you have just 2 of the clowns, right? And how long have you had them? They are certainly not a fish to expect to swim around the tank; generally once they get comfortable they're going to pick one spot and stay in it. I've had some that enjoyed hanging out in the sand before, as well as right at the top of the display. It was kind of annoying, but then again, having expectations of behavior for wild animals will almost always lead to disappointment. Keep an eye on it, but it sounds pretty normal to me.

Assuming you only have two (if you have more than two, only two will likely survive/do well) they will pick a place to associate with. It could be sand, a power head, a piece of coral, or if you have the right species, an anemone. Sound normal to me.
