just received my dosing pumps for my alk and cal...

i am haveing to add 40ml of alk everyday by hand. with the pumps, is it better to do all 40ml over a 20-30 period or a couple of times spread across the day.

also, what do you keep you alk at, just thought i would ask...

thanks for any info

I spread my alk dosing every 1/2 hour over a 10 hour period. And I try to keep my alk under 8. Currently it's at 7.5

if you have dosing pumps, try and spread the dosing throught the day. and my ALK is also at 8

I was told that LPS'es like alk at 9-11 dKh. I have a Wellso that's not doing well, so someone suggested to raise it from 8 to 9 or 10. I'm not an expert, so I don't really know.

I dose 1/2 of the dose of alk at midnite, then dose the first half of calc at 2 am, then dose the second 1/2 of the alk at 4 am and dose the second half of the calc dose at 6 am. I use a digital timer from Hoeem Depot that breaks down the on and off times by the minute. It takes me about 11 minutes per period for the alk and 8 minutes per period with the Drew's Peristalic Dosers for my 120 DT and 25 gallon sump and about 50-75 pounds of live rock. It is SO much easier and WELL worth the $$ spent for the dosers.

I'm not sure what kind of dozing pumps you have but when I had my profilux. I would program it to dose 4 times a day and it will divide whatever ml I set it to dose by 4. I always keep my alk at about 9.5 my tank is an sps tank.

I like keeping the individual doses small so I do 12 and 12. On the hour, odd hours is alk and even hours is calcium.
