on this light http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store/products/lighting/metal-halide-aquarium-lighting/metal-halide-reflectors-sockets-and-plugs/sunlight-supply-lumen-max-2-single-ended-mogul-base-reflector.html it says Accommodates 3/16" tempered UV protected glass
I ordered a 400 watt 20k ushio bulb for it, does it come with the UV glass? i don't see it anywhere on there site. Is it something i have to have to run the bulb?

I was under the impresion that single ended MH bulbs were UV protected glass and the double ended bulbs required the UV glass. In otherwords using the unit as designed to run it doesn't need the glass but if modified to run other bulbs the housing will accept UV glass if needed.

That's what i thought also about the single ended bulbs not needing it, but when i read that it accepts the glass i wasn't 100% sure if i needed it. Thanks for the conformation. :)

It does not include it... SE bulbs should have UV protection glass. But, it's highly recommended. Most of the heat is dissipitated through the side vents. You direct less heat to the tank. And, your reflector stays clean from any water spots.
