Not sure what you are asking?
you want to run wet dry with LR rubble and grow chaeto in the back?

I have live rock and cheato in the back of my biocube and it works great. Cheato is growing and rock is under the water level and doing the job it is supposed to.

If you are going to put chato in the bioball chamber you'll need a light sorce in there.

My biocube has a window into the chamber which I have a light source directed into. Works like a charm and chaeto is thriving.

You could try an intank media basket and fill it bioballs or DIY one, but you really don't need bioballs if you have live rock in the tank and sump.

would it work if i were to put the rock on the little box that would hold your filter above the second chamber?
