When you guys use paint guns, how much paint thinner should I use with my paint?

If you are referring to thinning the paint so that it sprays easier than I would thin the paint about 10%-15% depending on how thick the product is. I like to thin the paint to the point that it starts to "talk to you". As you thin the paint it will start to make a gurgling sound when it is ready. HTH

It also depends on your gun nozzle, some can handle a little thicker paint. You can start shooting it and go from there. The paint should tell you though what the percentage is but as Dave said 10-15% is the norm.

I forgot to add, depending what color your going with you may want to use/try a color tinted stain. I just did a stand using a black stain and I really like how it turned out. The previous owner had sprayed it with that granite look rattle can paint. So after stripping a sanding I decided to go with the stain. Just an idea.

Thanks for the responses guy! I am painting my stand black, I am using Gliddon paint. I started paint it the other night, and it didn't go very well lol. The paint came out really think and dried with a lot of run marks. I am going to sand it back down tomorrow and repaint. I didn't know that I was supposed to use a thinner LOL.....lesson learned. This is the gun I am using....I may try and get a good paint gun from my friend to use, it runs off an air compressor.

I'd rather use Latex. No thinning required.

Latex paint should still generally be thinned for the best results with a spray gun.

Unless you are spraying with a conventional sprayer, it is not necessary to thin. I never thin latex paint when I'm spraying.
