Tips to silence the Reef Octopus BH 100F?

I have had the BH100F for over 6 months now and I still can't get it to be too quiet. It is the suction sound coming from either the silencer adapter or the white controlled valve that came with the unit.

Any input or tips would be appreciated.

The valve is supposed to be removed once you are through with break in period of the skimmer. This is likely increasing the vacuum sound you are experiencing.

So the grayish silencer adapter should be used after the break-in period and if so which side should the tube be attached? There is a long internal tube and a short inside the silencer unit.

You hook the line to to the one with the long inner tube within the silencer.
