Hey guys,

I've had my SRO-1000int for almost two months now. During the two months i've literally had about 3 days of consistency with the skimmer. The skimmer is extremely sporadic. It will be perfect for a couple of hours and then ill check it to find the cup overflowing. Or it will be perfect and then suddenly it will loose the foam head and completely collapse down to the water level. The skimmer is sitting in 5.5 inches of water, i have a filter sock on the drain to prevent microbubbles entering the skimmer pump which i notice can effect its performance. I assume the extra bubbles change the water/air ratio. My ATO line feeds into the sump after the skimmer chamber so the addition of fresh water shouldn't matter. Just want to see if anyone else has had this problem and if they have what helped. Recently i added a bag of carbon thinking that there might of been some residual chemicals from the initial set up of the tank but nothing changed.

I know these skimmers are second to none so I'm sure i just need to tweek something to lock it in. Thanks guys.

What size system are you using the skimmer on? What is the internal water height set at? Filter socks may not be the best thing to control the output bubbles. A block of foam or a slow transition down will help. Does the section that the skimmer sits in water level change throughout the day via evaporation?

Hey Jeremy,

Im using the SRO1000int on my Marineland 93G cube. I'ts going to be a SPS tank so i wanted a powerful skimmer. At the moment the internal water level from what i can tell is right at the miniumum water level line. The foam head fills the rest of of the void. The bubble line reaches about two inches from the outlet on top. The extra two inches is where the dirty foam accumulates and makes its way over.
The filter sock isn't on the skimmer output. Its on the main drain line from the tank into the sump. The skimmer sits in a 15g sump. The sump is segmented so the only water level fluctuation occurs in the last chamber, which is beyond the skimmer chamber.

What type of bioload is currently in the system? Do you dose any medications, chemicals, use glues or putties? Would it be possible to get a photo of the skimmer in operation?

I Would say its about medium stocked right now. No medications right now. All i dose at the moment is calcium. Putty or glue hasn't been used yet. The tank is still reletively new so i haven't started adding too many frags yet. Ill see what i can do about the picture. And of course at the moment everything seems to be working fine. Ill report back when/if things go haywire and ill try and snap a pic during. Thank you
