I just added 44lbs of LR to my 56g column tank. Any suggestions/recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Hows that LR setup?
Hows the placement/direction of circulation pump?
Cycling time?

I like the rock placement, but think you will want a lot more flow in the tank before you are done. Make sure to clean that filter regularly, but only by swishing it around in your water change water, no tap water, you don't want to kill the bacteria colony on it. What are you putting in the tank?

You want to have the flow aimed at the rocks in order to build the bacteria colonies up. And based on what I see I agree; could use some more flow - another powerhead, maybe.

+1 on flow. You can always get a Koralia Evo for more movement without breaking the bank.
Also, is that a Marineland Penguin filter? I suggest you run a protein skimmer instead. I ran the penguin filter back then when I started off but then I upgraded to a skimmer and water never looked cleaner than before.

OK...sounds like another is in order.
What about the placement/direction of the current one and the one that coming?
Looking to only do fish and inverts to begin with.
Thanks again.

The placement is good :)
looks like its facing towards back glass & up??
when you get the next one.. I would put on left side facing towards front glass & down :)

Actually, it is facing towards the front left corner of the tank. Just wondering if I should be seeing movement over the sand.
I do see that there is circulation around the rocks and via the caves/opening/

It looks like you have good surface agitation.. so I personally would put the powerhead in the center back of the tank and face the powerhead to the center front and down (til you get 2nd pwhd).. just my 2 pennies :lol2:

2 pennies are better than none!

looks good, do you plan on having coral? If so you may have a hard time getting them to stay in place, my suggestion would be super glue gel

No corals for now. Going to do fish and inverts to start.

I would add more rock... Look at the pics of my tank and look at the rock. Also I would start adding a LITTLE purple up jest untill you get a bit on you rocks, you DO NOT want to add a whole lot or your rock will be smuthered and it wont look as nice my opinion.
