Why would a skimmer stop "skimming". I bought my equipment used and it had been doing great. Lately there is just not much skimmate being produced. It is a DAS skimmer which I was told is used more commerial than by hobbiest. I wish I had the manual but not knowing the model not sure how to sure.

The skimmer looks to be running as it always has just no skim.

Mine does this too sometimes. Well, it doesn't completely stop skimming, it just cuts way back on the output. I thought something was wrong until I fed my tank bits and pieces of raw shrimp, and the skimmer went crazy. I guess if there's no protein to skim, it doesn't skim. But I'd still check your air intake and maybe try to adjust the cup just to be sure everything is functioning properly.

Good to know it is not just me. It has been this way for two weeks now but will feed some shrimp to see what happens. I have been playing with the cup every other day. Will check the intake as well. Thanks
