My LFS didn't know what it was either, I thought it looked a lot like Echinata. And a 3" piece for $29 seemed like a steal.

Anyone know if I was right?

I doubt it is A. horrida because the corallites aren't very compacted.

Veron describes the structured of A. tortuosa stating, "Corallites are immersed to long and tubular, giving branches a rough, irregular appearance".

I think this description wits well for the coral in question and that more polyp extension would be visible if it was an A. horrida.

It's not echinata...but for $30 that is a definite steal !!
