I just added my live rock 2 days ago to my new tank (cycling) and starting seeing threads about Purple Up.

Should I add this to my tank to boost coralline growth?

I added a piece of live rock and a shell from a friend's tank that has some coralline already on it.

I'm heading to purchase another powerhead and wondered if I should pick this product up also.

Dont go crazy adding chemicals to the tank just yet. Let nature take its course. Trust me in no time you will have coralline algae growth everywhere! It happend to me. I've learned in this hobby that you must be patient for everything.
IMO though, I tried Purple Up and I didnt like it. I dose my tank with a 2 part system.
Give it a few months and you will start to see growth ;)

What kind of light do you have?

Some people like purple up, most don't. My advice would be to keep your calcium, mag, and alkalinity levels in check and the coraline will come soon enough

I'd wait until the tank has cycled. And if you do things right, there really isn't any need for purple up. Coraline algae will grow just fine if you are doing things right. Don't get me wrong, purple up is an OK product and I've even used it (won it at a club raffle). But with a 10 month old tank, if you want to come over to my house and scrap coraline off the glass, stop by anytime! Don't try to rush it. This is a slow moving hobby if you do things right.

Exactly. Don't muck around with chemicals.
