Not bad to be your 1st aquascape!

Now do you plan these things ahead of time for flow and coral placement and such? Ive always just put mine in and not really thought about it.

I think it looks great. There's plenty of room for fish to swim and coral placement and none of the rock seems too close to the glass. Good job!

Bear in mind that I'm by no means an expert, but... The first thing I notice is that it's rather symmetrical looking. Maybe if you were to turn the right grouping the other way it wouldn't look quite so planned. Another thing is that I would be a bit nervous about the stability, though if you put this together with rods and/or glue it may be rock solid. The last thing it really took me a while to put my finger on is that it doesn't look like you have much in the way of hiding space. Everything looks really open with the possible exception of the slight overhang on the far right bottom.

Now, all that said, I think you're off to a good start. Honestly it's probably better than what I would have come up with from the same rocks.

Are you planning on corals or is this a FOWLR setup? I would shoot for more surface area for corals if you are planning on corals. You have some pretty good spots though especially on the top of that far right monster rock.

Not bad looking...I like the tunnels.

Thanks guy's......the stability of it is rather rock solid. It would take a lot to move any of the rock. There are more hiding places then the pics show. I was keeping in mind that I wanted good flow in and around the the rock work and also I wanted a lot of sand surface area, which I think I have achieved. I also wanted a lot of room for the fish to swim around in. I have looked at hundreds of pics of other aqua-scaping and one thing I have noticed is that after the coral have grown and filled in, that they seem to give the rock work another look of appeal. They also seem to give the fish more hiding places too as they grow out over the rook work....IMO.
Once again, I thank you guy's for the kind words and most of all, the constructive criticism. It is people like ya'll that make this hobby worth while in the learning process.

I think it looks good, take the one top peice off the right side and I think you will be perfect. It will give you some variation in height. Try and see what you think.

Bingo.

Big crack in the rock...right down the middle.
Single black box.....right down the middle.
Piping equal number and location on each side.
Two large clumps of rock.....equidistant from the middle.

Shake it up a little and don't be afraid to make it look random because on a reef, the corals and rocks aren't aligning themselves to be symmetric. Draw two imaginary horizontal lines that splits the tank into thirds. Then draw two imaginary vertical lines that splits the tank into thirds. Now think about the four points where these lines intersect. These points will be the natural focus of the human eye and unless you have your tank filled 1/2 way with sand, the lower two points will be of greatest interest. The higher two points would be good for some corals if you are going to add those.

Some people like that symetrical look, but having some randomness to it does make it look "authentic"
